CAFE PARAGON,
234 Thayer Street, Providence, 331-6200.A popular spot with the young, diverse Brown University crowd, Cafe Paragon features an appetizing blend of updated Euro-American favorites at affordable prices. (The bar also makes a mean Sombrero.) The penne pasta marinara ($8) was tossed in a light sauce with fresh mozzarella, sliced black olives and basil. The grilled swordfish ($11) arrived flaky and tender, and accompanied by mixed field greens and smashed potatoes. The dessert choices were pleasingly redolent with chocolate, none moreso than the chocolate mousse frosted cappuccino cake ($4). It's no wonder the place is packed on weekend nights.
